Crystal Forrest is entering her fourth year of teaching at Royal Elementary. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Elementary Education from Fayetteville State University. Before joining Royal Elementary, she gained valuable experience working in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools and Wake County Schools.

Crystal is passionate about creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for her students. Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time in the mountains and at the lake with her family. She and her husband have four children, a son-in-law, a Labrador retriever, and a chinchilla.

She is excited for another wonderful school year and looks forward to working with her students and their families.

Sandra Cuervo

Sandra Cuervo is a foreign teacher from Colombia. She has been teaching in preschool for 14 years. She has a Bachelor Degree in Foreign Languages at La Salle University Colombia and a Master´s degree in Didactic of Languages at La Salle University too. She is excited to be part of the Spanish immersion program with first graders this year. She is married and has 1 son. She enjoys spending time with her family, do knitting , and be creative all the time.

Carolina Licona

Carolina Licona has 26 years of experience, teaching in different countries and to students of different ages and learning needs. She earned her BA degree in Education at her hometown, San Pedro Sula, Honduras, her Montessori degree at Honduras and Canada and her MA TESOL at Greensboro College, NC. This is her 2nd. tour as a Participate Ambassador teaching Kindergarten. Srita. Licona believes that "Education can take all learners beyond the imaginable." All children learn, grow, and succeed on their own pace. During her free time she enjoys traveling, reading, eating, dancing, culture and learning from others. Her family is her inspiration and motivation.

Kristi Vicente has been teaching for 21 years. She has a B.S. in Elementary Ed. from Lee University. She has taught Pre-K, K, and 1st grade. She is excited about a new adventure in 2nd grade. She is married and has 3 grown sons, a beautiful daughter-in-law, and a precious grandson. She enjoys spending time with her family, baking, reading fictional books, and walking. She is a BIG foodie and loves to try new restaurants. She is looking forward to teaching your children this year!

Brayden Patterson

Ms. Brayden Patterson is thrilled to be a part of the Royal Elementary family as a 2nd grade teacher. She is a proud 2024 graduate of East Carolina University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies. This will be Ms. Patterson’s second year of teaching, and she is excited to continue building a strong foundation for her students’ success while fostering a love of learning in the classroom.

Outside of school, Ms. Patterson enjoys shopping, spending time with her sweet puppy, Bailey, and getting lost in a good book. She is looking forward to a wonderful school year filled with growth, learning, and community at Royal Elementary!

Mrs. Sanchez is a dedicated educator from Ecuador, with over 13 years of experience in teaching. She brings a strong academic background, having earned her Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Educación from Universidad Técnica de Machala, followed by a Maestría en Gestión Educativa from Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo. She has further strengthened her skills with Cambridge’s CELT-P and TKT-YLE certifications.

Karla is passionate about creating positive educational environments and values the role of cross-cultural understanding in promoting empathy and cooperation. Karla is enthusiastic about sharing her culture and perspectives, contributing her expertise to foster exceptional educational experiences.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her daughter and son.
