Dr. Westbrook started his career as a High School English teacher starting his administrative career in 2005 at Northern Vance High School.  After serving as an assistant principal and interim principal at Henderson Middle School, he began his career as a principal at Carver Elementary School in Vance County. After serving as Carver’s principal for 8 years, Dr. Westbrook came to Royal in the summer of 2020.  He enjoys sports, music, and reading; but his two daughters, his wife, Susan, and their pets are his greatest joy.

Assistant Principal

I'm excited to be a part of the Royal Elementary School family as Assistant Principal. Before joining the Royal family, I was a fifth-grade math teacher for 8 years. My core belief has always been that students will achieve success if we provide students with a safe, positive, and equitable environment. I look forward to working with the students, staff, parents, and communities of Franklin County. I received my Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Queens University of Charlotte, NC. I completed my undergraduate studies in Elementary Education at Fayetteville State University.

Principal's Message

Being the principal at Royal is the culmination of over 20 years in education for me.  I taught high school English and served as an assistant principal at the high school and middle school levels.  Being an elementary principal has been a joy for me for over 10 years.  Franklin County and the wonderful staff at Royal welcomed me here with open arms in the summer of 2020.  This wonderful community and incredible staff are a principal’s dream come true, but the healthy academic and social growth of our children at Royal is my passion.  Our little Knights keep a smile on my face and providing them with a superior learning experience will always be my supreme priority.  My door is always open and I am here to serve this community, so don’t ever hesitate to visit!
